Support Hungry Children Throughout Manitowoc County

It Takes a Village--Help Us Feed Our Future!
Feed Our Future
Living with hunger is a real struggle that many around us are facing, including children – a demographic who should be investing their energy into playing, exploring, learning, and growing.
This year the need is greater than ever!
- We have seen a 40% increase in attendance at our food pantry alone, and we do not have cereal, fruit cups, or lunch items for families to meet their household needs.
- Last year, two additional schools reached out to participate in our program; however, our resources were limited to supporting 278 students in the Manitowoc Public School District. We sadly had to turn down the additional schools.
- We are just a few short weeks into the school year and 5 schools have asked for our support in feeding school children in need!
Feed Our Future offers families support so their children can grow and thrive. This program provides children nutritious bags of food each week during the school year in order to nourish them on the weekends.
Each student who participates receives 10 ready-to-eat, or easy-to-heat items of food weekly to eat on the weekends.
Based on a list of designated criteria, participating school representatives (counselors, principals, and teachers) provide us with the total number of students who need our help.
Next, Grow It Forward volunteers assemble the appropriate amount of food in bags from the food we have purchased. 500 children x 10 separate items x 36 weeks = 180,000 total items or 18,000 of each separate item.
Finally, community volunteers pick up food from Grow It Forward and deliver it to specific schools to be distributed on the last day of the school week.
